The 'Real George Washington' Coming To The National Constitution Center
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --Two exhibits surrounding George Washington will open this summer at the National Constitution Center.
Discover the 'Real George Washington,' coming July 1st, is designed to give visitors to the National Constitution Center a behind the scenes look at the nation's first president, a more personal look at his life and achievements, using about 100 objects from Washington's home in Mount Vernon.
There are no portraits of Washington before age 40, but this exhibit includes three full sized life-like figures.
"They're close to what you think of as wax figures. The neat thing is that they are done based on forensic science and the different ways the skeleton was measured is what generates the wax figures," said NCC President and CEO David Eisner.
The Center is also hosting 'The President's House: Their Untold Stories in Quilts,' designed to celebrate the lives of the nine enslaved Africans who lived in Washington's household.
