The PSPCA Foster Care Volunteer Program
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Fostering a homeless animal has been proven to make a successful difference in the future home of the animal. If you have a desire to help homeless animals and make a difference, the Pennsylvania SPCA offers a special program.
The Foster Care Volunteer program is designed to provide a caring home where animals can receive more individualized attention. The individual animal's needs will vary. Some may be recovering from illness, others need to be socialized and still others aren't yet old enough to be placed in a forever home. Experience is always helpful but there is training available if you're fostering for the first time. The SPCA provides free medical care for the fostered animal at their animal hospital.
The foster care volunteer always has the first opportunity to adopt the animal or help to arrange adoptions with qualified, interested parties. As with other volunteer opportunities, you should be at least 18 years of age.
