'The Hobbit' Is Lord of the Box Office 3rd Weekend Straight

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Make it three in a row for The Hobbit. Director Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey finished first at the box office for a third consecutive weekend, earning an estimated $33 million.
In second place, and not far off the mark with $30 million, was Django Unchained, director Quentin Tarantino's new thriller with Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio, which opened on Christmas Day.
Third was Les Misérables, the movie version of the hit stage musical, with Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, which also debuted on Christmas Day. It took in $28 million.
And fourth was the weekend's other new attraction -- Parental Guidance, the family comedy featuring Billy Crystal and Bette Midler. It earned $15 million.
Overall, industrywide totals for the year's final weekend were nearly 20 percent ahead of last year's pace. Box office was boffo!
