The Future Is Now; Today Is 'Back To The Future' Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Today is not a national holiday, but for many people who love pop culture they are treating it like one.
In the movie Back to the Future II, the main character, Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, travels from 1989 to October 21, 2015.
So, with today being that date, the folks at City Tap House in Center City decided to have a party.
"This is something we've been wanting to put together for years, literally," said Andy Farrell with the City Tap House. "It is a Back to the Future themed, Parkinson's disease fundraiser,"
Farrell says during their party, they'll show all three Back to the Future movies, make some drinks inspired by the films and play music synonymous with the blockbuster.
"We wanted to kind of build an event that's going to engage people on a lot of levels," he said, "and hopefully do some good for charity that night."
Farrell says part of the proceeds from the party , which runs from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m., will go to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
Back to the Future also predicted that in 2015 the Chicago Cubs would win the World Series, and to the surprise of many those Cubs are currently playing for the National League Championship Series.
