The Eagles First Mini-Camp Is Underway

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Chip Kelly doesn't plan to slow down anytime soon.
The new Eagles head coach has a reputation for running a fast-paced style. He is looking to keep the pace at a high level during his team's first mini-camp of the off-season.
"There's two speeds in football," said Kelly. "There's game speed and teach speed. If you're going to do something else at any other speed, then why do it?"
Kelly has his players on the field for the first time as the team began a three-day mini-camp on Tuesday. The teams in the NFL which have new head coaches are all allowed to hold an early camp. While the camp is voluntary, Kelly said all of the Eagles were in attendance.
"It was good to get them back on the field," Kelly said. "Guys were running around. There was a good tempo, good pace and good energy. I think the two weeks we have with our off-season program with our strength coaches kind of prepared those guys."
One of the positions the coaches will keep a close eye on is quarterback. The battle for the starting job between Nick Foles and Michael Vick is expected to last throughout the off-season. Kelly gave all of his quarterbacks equal time with the top unit during the first round of workouts.
"Were going to use the full available time for us to make a full evaluation," said Kelly. "I think is fosters competition. I think those guys love competition. That's why they are in that position."
Kelly and the Eagles will soon learn when they will face their opponents next season. The NFL will release its 2013 schedule Thursday night.
