The Coaches Of Eagles' Past

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles have released Head Coach Chip Kelly, who was just one game away from completing his third season at the team's helm.

Kelly was hired in 2013, after Andy Reid was fired in 2013.  Kelly finished his tenure as Eagles coach with a 26-20 record.

Reid is the winningest head coach in the team's history. He racked up a 130-93-1 record as head coach.

His 10 playoff wins in nine appearances are the most in team history and tied for 11th in league history. The Eagles earned trips to five NFC Championship Games and an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Here's a look at the coaches of Eagles' past, since Dick Vermeil, and their records before Reid came along:

1995-1998:
Ray Rhodes
Record: 30-36-1

Rhode's was Eagles' owner Jeffrey Lurie's first hire.

Rhodes didn't wow in the results category, but he did win a playoff game in the beginning of his tenure.

1991-1994
Rich Kotite
Record: 37-29-0

Richie Kotite was in place during the early years from '91 to '94 and won one playoff game in his second season. though many say he never really had a chance.

1986-1990
Buddy Ryan
Record: 43-38-1

Ryan famously declared, "You've got a winner in this town," and became a Philadelphia fan favorite, though he never won a single playoff game during his tenure.

1983-1985
Marion Campbell
Record: 17-29-1

Campbell, much like Kelly, was also fired with one game remaining in the season.

1976-1982
Dick Vermeil
Record: 57-51-0

Vermeil led the Birds to an NFC title and is known for taking big risks- including holding open, public tryouts.

That's how Vince Papale, whose story morphed into the Hollywood blockbuster "Invincible", was signed.
