'The Classical Mystery Tour: A Tribute To The Beatles'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Beatles first came to America five decades ago, and to celebrate the occasion, the Philadelphia Orchestra presents the Classical Mystery Tour in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center on July 23rd and 24th.

"It's an experience to come in and hear songs from the 60s and 70s that this band made famous 50 years ago," says Jeremy Rothman, the vice president of artistic planning for the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Rothman says Beatles fans will all come together for this special concert.
"For the really hardcore Beatles fans, they're going to be in absolute heaven with this concert because of the accuracy and legitimacy," he explains.
And Rothman says you'll get to hear the 'Fab Four' like you've never heard them before.
"The Beatles recorded these albums for the studio, so to get to hear these actually live, with the Symphony Orchestra behind them, is just a fantastic experience."
Jim Owen On The 'Classical Mystery Tour'
Jim Owen will be portraying John Lennon during the Classical Mystery Tour. He says this concert will be much more than the Orchestra simply playing arrangements of Beatles songs by themselves.
"What we do is kind of more like a pop concert where they bring in a guest. So there's four of us in our group, each one portraying one of the Beatles characters, and we also use costumes in the show -- it sort of helps the illusion," Owen explains.
Owen says they each play what their respective Beatles character would play in the original recordings and adds that the live music aspect is what's most important.
"It's basically a concert the Beatles never got to do live," he says.
