The City Celebrates Cinco De Mayo
By Mike Dougherty
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's Cinco De Mayo, and much like St. Patrick's Day, everyone is invited to celebrate.
"I'll have a margarita," Emily announced.
At Mexican Post in Old City, the drink orders didn't vary much. Sombrero-wearing Alyssa (in photo), who is also celebrating her birthday, says she's been looking forward to this.
"Well, to be honest, I think it's a good reason to go out and have some cervezas," she says.
Both she and her father, Mike, say that everybody can pretend they are Mexican today.
"Just because, you know the culture and you know there's plenty of Mexican restaurants around the city, so I think everyone gets into it."
Brian, also at the Post, says it's just another reason to meet up with friends.
"Kinda like St. Patty's Day. Even though you're not Irish, it's good reason to go out and enjoy yourself."
Not to be a buzzkill, but most people wrongly think this is Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16th.
