The Chamber Orchestra Of Philadelphia

Did you know that many of the world's best composers actually wrote for orchestra with a smaller, 12 – 30 chamber orchestra in mind? In fact, it was only in the 19th century that an orchestra came to mean the larger, full-size symphony that we think of today; composers like Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven originally intended many of their works to be played by a smaller group.

It's this feeling of intimacy that The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia strives to evoke. The 33-member ensemble, led by Dirk Brossé, performs at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and focuses on music from the Baroque period through the 21st century.

Location:

Perelman Theater
260 S. Broad St.
Philadelphia, Pa. 19102
