The Atlas Society Hopes Country Can "Get Back To The Basics"
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Politics is never as simple as Republican versus Democrat, especially to hold a view that neither party satisfies completely.
Although completely against big government, The Atlas Society's director of advocacy, Edward Hutchins, says Republicans in the presidential field can have unpalatable views too.
He says Ron Paul is weak on foreign policy, and Michelle Bachman and Rick Santorum advocate government that promotes conservative values. The Atlas Society, based on objectivism developed by Ayn Rand, believes in individual rights and responsibilities.
"We have to get back to the basics of this country which were so well articulated by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, that the purpose of government is to protect your rights and otherwise to leave you alone, not to tell you how to spend your money, not to tell you what to do in your personal life or your sex life. It's to leave you alone."
So that you, with rational self-interest, can succeed.
