Thaddeus Young Denies He Requested A Trade From Sixers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It's a time of transition for the Philadelphia 76ers, for the organization and for the players. While general manager Sam Hinkie goes through the process of rebuilding the roster, there are a few veterans who are caught in the middle.
Thaddeus Young, now in his seventh season, is one of those veterans.
Young enough to be considered in his prime, or just before it, but with enough seasons under his belt to be in no mood for a full rebuild, it surprised no one when a report surfaced on Thursday that Young had requested a trade.
"Young and his agent, Jim Tanner, submitted a formal trade request to Hinkie and the Sixers weeks ago, according to a source close to Young," Jake Fischer of Liberty Ballers reported Thursday. "Thad is ready to leave Philly," the source said. "He isn't with the whole tanking thing."
Young flatly denied the report Friday at Sixers practice.
"I just think how it's all funny that it's 'sources' said I asked to be traded," Young told Chris Vito of the Delaware County Daily Times. "At the end of the day, I'm here 110-percent every single game to just play, stay focused and try to win basketball games."
When Young was asked if he requested a trade, he simply said, "No."
Young did say he is aware he could be traded, and his agent has been in contact with Sam Hinkie.
