By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Ovarian cancer is a major form of cancer which impacts 18,000 women every year.
One of the most frustrating aspects of ovarian cancer is that there is not a simple test to detect it. In many cases ovarian cancer is quite advanced when it is diagnosed.
There is new information from Johns Hopkins about a test that can detect ovarian cancer with the pap smear. The test is not perfect. In a small sample it was about 40%, but the fact there is some promise is raising a great deal of excitement.
