Temple Wins First Game Of Season, 33-14 Over Army
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Matt Rhule won his first game as head coach and Temple won its first game of the season with a 33-14 victory over Army on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field.
The win snaps a seven-game losing streak for Temple (1-6) and a six-game home losing streak, both dating back to last season. Army (3-5) has never won at the Linc in 11 tries since the stadium opened in 2004.
Freshman quarterback P.J. Walker led Temple in his second college start, completing 10 of 16 passes for 203 yards passing, two touchdowns and an interception.
Junior wide receiver Jalen Fitzpatrick caught one of Walker's two touchdowns and amassed a career-high 128 yards on four catches.
Temple led 26-0 at the half and 33-0 in the third quarter before Army backup quarterback Kelvin White threw for one touchdown and ran for another for his team's only two scores.
