Temple Visits Bowling Green in MAC Action
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - To say that Temple is firing on all cylinders may be an understatement. The Owls have won two straight games, over Ball State and Buffalo, by a combined score of 76-0.
Saturday, they will look to continue this roll as they travel to Ohio to battle Bowling Green.
Temple is now 5-2 this season and 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference, while Bowling Green is 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the MAC.
While the Owls' running game -- featuring Bernard Pierce (photo) and Matt Brown -- grabs a lot of the headlines, and rightfully so, the Temple defense may really be the most important facet of this Owls team as it has proven to be an incredibly stout unit in 2011.
Temple has allowed just 67 points a game, and they are second in the country in scoring defense (9.57 ppg allowed). Thirty-six of the 67 points they've given up came in the loss to Toledo on October 1st. Throw that game out and that scoring defense average drops to 5.17 ppg.
Bowling Green leads the all-time series with the Owls, 7-4, but Temple won last year's matchup, 28-27, at Lincoln Financial Field.
KYW's Matt Leon sat down with KYW's Harry Donahue, the radio voice of the Owls, to talk about the matchup and the MAC.
