Temple U. Stepping Up Police Presence After Attacks On Students
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Several teens are under arrest after a number of Temple University students are robbed and attacked.
Because of what happened the university is stepping up its police presence, especially on the weekends.
University officials say around 7 p.m. Friday, hundreds of teenagers descended on students and police officers, injuring a number of people.
A lot of the violence was caught on camera.
Surveillance video shows a mob of young people near the intersection of Oxford and Carlisle Streets. It was there police say some of the kids beat and robbed Temple University students.
Joe Lauletta says his daughter was beaten and left shaken.

"I never wanted to receive that call from my daughter. To find out she was beaten black and blue all over her whole body, stomped on, kicked in the head... it's just phenomenal. It's beyond my wildest dreams."
Another man says his brother was repeatedly kicked in the face and lost a tooth.
"He's very traumatized."
The university says the gathering of around 200 people happened because of a social media asking to gather at Broad and Oxford Streets.
Police say in one incident a teen punched a police horse twice in the head, and in another instance an officer was thrown to the ground.
Some students think they should've been better informed about what was happening. They say they only got a vague alert of juveniles on campus two hours after the first attack.

The university says it's working to better streamline communication.
Charles Leone, executive director of public safety, "It was a situation no one could predict. We're going to err on the side of caution, learn and improve as we go along."
The arrests range in age from 15 to 17 years old.
