Temple U Holds Active Shooter Drill One Day After UCLA Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Temple University held a public safety drill simulating an on campus shooting.

Brandon Lausch with Temple University says the active shooter campus drill had been planned for months.

Kuznits: "So this is a coincidence that it happened one day after the UCLA campus shooting?"

"It's unfortunate happenstance," said Lausch.

Lee Kazonis, head of training for the standardized patients program says victims were treated as if this were a real incident.

"So I have my actors here with full moulage of all the bullet wounds," explained Kazonis. "They're trained actors, so they can act all hurt and freaked out."

One of the actors took on the role of a man who had been shot in the head.

Public safety officer Charles Leone says where children were once taught to "stop, drop and roll" for fire, they are now being taught new instructions for campus shootings.

"Run, hide, fight has become the mantra for schools."
