Temple U. Health Care Students Hold Neighborhood Fair

Temple University health care students shared their knowledge today with neighborhood children at a campus health fair.

KYW's Lynne Adkins reports that it was a fun and educational afternoon for about 200 children living near Temple University's medical school.

Student organizer Dana Pfaffle says the kids rotated through several workshops that stressed the importance of picking up good habits:

"Healthy food options and physical activity, health education, good oral hygiene, how to stay active, and career development."

(sound of steel drums)

The first activity was learning about steel drums used for therapy -- and doing the limbo.

(Child:)  "It was fun!"

(Adkins:)  "What are you learning?"

(Child:)  "About steel drums."

They also ate a healthy lunch and learned to "boxercise" off the calories.
