Temple Set To Face Rutgers on Saturday in Big East Showdown
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There's a little extra buzz on campus for tomorrow's Temple-Rutgers football game, at Lincoln Financial Field.
Temple and Rutgers are both undefeated in the Big East, Temple at 2-0 and #19-ranked Rutgers at 3-0.
Temple sophomore Ted Lewis is looking forward to the showdown.
"It's just really exciting being in the Big East," he tells KYW Newsradio, "and I think with the momentum the team's carrying right now, I think we can definitely pull it off."
And with Rutgers fans crossing the river and heading to South Philly, a Temple spokesman says this game is shaping up to be the third-largest Temple crowd ever at the Linc. That would suit Ted just fine.
"I hope there's a lot of Rutgers people there," he says.
Why is that?
"Because having away fans pumps up the home fans, and it gets nice and loud -- a great atmosphere."
Students say a win would put Temple in line for a little national respect.
