Temple Freshmen Testing Facebook's 'RoomBug' App
Hundreds of Temple University freshman moving in to dorms this week used Facebook to find their own roommates. Temple is one of five colleges in the country testing out the application.
KYW's John McDevitt reports that sharing a room with someone you don't know is a big adjustment for freshmen.
Sean Killion, with Temple University Housing, assists in matching students to live together in dorm rooms. He says "roombug" allows students to pick their own roommate:
"'Roombug' is an application that is offered through Facebook so students log into Facebook and then they'll add this application into their Facebook profile and then they are able to use the system to fill in preferences -- like what time of day they like to wake up, what type of music they like -- all of the types of preference you would want to think about when choosing someone to live with."
Killion says 700 freshmen used "roombug" -- about half found matches.
