Temple Fans Pack Independence Mall Ahead Of Game Against Notre Dame
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It might be the longest and most grueling pre-game in Temple football's history. ESPN put up its Game Day set on Independence Mall on Friday, and not long after that students started migrating from North Philadelphia.
Thousands of people turned out very early Saturday morning for the festivities leading up to the big game against Notre Dame. With ESPN's College Game Day in town, Owl fans were making the most of their time in the national spotlight. The electric atmosphere was something many Temple fans thought they would never have a chance to experience and they were making the most of it.
"To see Temple come out, and in our senior year, to go out with a bang like this, it's so awesome, and there is more to come."
"It's 6:10 (a.m.) and kids can't get up this early for class but we can get up this early for College Game Day. It's amazing! It's a whole different world."
One of the more popular parts of College Game Day is the funny signs that fans make to poke fun at the opposing team. For many holding such signs on Independence Mall, Notre Dame's head coach was the butt of the joke.
"Brian Kelly Hates Disney movies."
"Brian Kelly Pees Sitting Down"
"Brian Kelly Likes Nickelback"
"Brian Kelly is on Ashley Madison"
For Temple, Saturday night's game is the biggest in the school's history. So, as crazy as the atmosphere was before the game, a win over the Irish would likely make the pre-game party on Independence Mall look tame.
