Teens Remain In Custody For Upper Darby Bully Attack
MEDIA, Pa. (CBS) - Seven teens charged with brutally bullying a 13-year-old in Upper Darby last month -- and recording it all -- remain in juvenile custody in Delaware County after a court appearance yesterday in Media.
The defendants, ranging in age from 13 to 17, will be back in juvenile court a week from today and at that time, Judge Mary Alice Brennan could release some, or all of them, into their parents custody.
All seven were given "Right to Retain" hearings which, given their ages, are usually open to the public. But at the request of a defense attorney, Brennan cleared all but those directly involved from the courtroom.
Word is confidential mental health issues were brought up, which prompted Brennan's action. They will undergo risk and psychological evaluations while in the Juvenile Detention Center in Lima. The seven face juvenile charges of kidnapping, assault, unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment.
