Teen Boy Dead, Three Others Wounded In Chester Shooting
CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- A teenage boy was killed and three other people were wounded after gunfire erupted in Chester, Delaware County.
The shooting happened around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday along the 1100 block of Upland Street. Police say they arrived on scene to find a house riddled by gunfire and numerous shell casing covering the street within a two block area. They say all four shooting victims had already been transported to Chester Crozer Medical Center by private vehicles.
A 17-year-old boy, identified as Jesse D. Burton Jr., was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Three other victims were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. A 16-year-old boy was shot in both legs and is listed in stable condition. An 18-year-old male sustained injuries to his right leg and is listed in serious but stable condition and a 41-year-old man was shot in the chest and is in critical but stable condition.
Authorities determined they are looking for at least three suspects because they found three different types of shell casing in the area of the shooting. Police were not sure if the gunmen were on foot or inside a moving vehicle when they opened fire.
Investigators are still searching for a motive. Police say they are looking for a dark burgundy or maroon SUV, possibly a Ford.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Chester Police Department at (610) 447-8426 or (610) 891-8030.
