Teams Of Villanova Nursing Students Spending Spring Break Overseas
VILLANOVA, Pa (CBS) - Teams of nursing students at a local university are spending spring break overseas, helping those in need.
One service team made up of over a dozen students from Villanova University's College of Nursing is in the Dominican Republic, conducting health screenings and talking to residents about a number of health related issues, including sanitation, pediatrics and child poverty.
Kate Rosenberg, 25, a second-degree student from Portland, Oregon hopes to inspire others to volunteer.
"You just get gratitude back and you just feel really good about yourself for serving others. You can't really describe how it feels. You just feel really great about it," Rosenberg said.
Katia Maschietto, 36, is originally from Brazil. She says this volunteer opportunity is a good start to what she wants to accomplish later on.
After I graduate, I want to travel the world and work in poor communities in different countries," Maschietto said.
Two other service teams are in Peru and Nicaragua and all will return on March 6th.
