Tall Ships And Pirates Invade Penns Landing For October Festival
By Paul Kurtz
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The tall ships will be sailing along the Delaware River in October as part of the Independence Seaport Museum Old City Seaport Festival.
The museum's spokeswoman, Hope Koseff-Corse, says four tall ships and maybe a fifth will be taking part in the festival, which begins October 5th and runs through the 7th.
"They're gonna be docked along the landing inside the festival area and they are also available to take a river tour," she said. "They are gonna be taking people out Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. We also have two smaller ships that are gonna be here; the Quintessence and the Summer Wind and they will be giving tours throughout the festival."
Koseff-Corse says in addition to the ships, there will be plenty of other attractions.
"We have a number of tall ships coming in as well as antique and classic boats, live music, food, beer garden, a pirates lair for the kids and the whole thing ends in a bang with a pirate battle on Sunday afternoon."
The pirate battle will feature lots of loud sounds from mock cannons.
