Swiped Painting Of Jesus Returned To Pa. Restaurant With Note Apologizing For 'Drunken Mistake'
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — A painting of Jesus stolen in what the culprit calls a "drunken mistake" has been returned to a Mexican restaurant popular with Penn State students.
The savior-swiper returned the 3-foot by 6-foot painting to Mad Mex restaurant Thursday morning, a day after local media reported on the theft.
Mad Mex manager Kristen Burns says a maintenance worker found the painting in red wrapping paper leaning up against a side door. An attached note said, "Please forgive me for my drunken mistake."
The $1,000 painting wasn't harmed. Police say the case is now closed.
Max Mex reported the paining stolen on Monday. The restaurant says it'll look to keep it permanently affixed to the wall from now on.
