Suspects Sought In Armed Robbery Of Armored Truck In Norristown
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - Investigators in Montgomery County are searching for several suspects in connection to the violent armed robbery of an armored truck earlier this month.
The incident happened February 2 as a Brinks truck was making a delivery to the Bank of America branch located at 1000 Sandy Hill Road in Norristown.
According to police, three suspects drove up to the Brinks truck as it was making a delivery. The suspects were driving a minivan that had been stolen earlier that day from the parking lot of a convenience store on Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia.
The males then exited the stolen vehicle and struck the armored car employee in the head with the butt of an assault rifle. The suspects then stole the delivery of cash that the employee was carrying.
The three males, described as either black or Hispanic, were wearing masks, dark jackets, jeans and gloves.
The three males then fled in the stolen minivan through the Regatta Apartment complex behind the bank branch, crashing through a chain barricade, and then abandoned the stolen minivan in the 900 block of Main Street in Norristown.
The suspects then switched into an early 2000's Nissan Pathfinder, black or dark blue in color, and then fled the area towards Bridgeport.
Brinks is offering a $25,000 reward in connection to the robbery.
The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
