Suspect Sought In String Of Crimes Across Delaware County
By Brad Segall
UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) -- Authorities in Delaware County, Pa. are asking for help from the public as they look for a man they say has been terrorizing retail store employees.
Upper Darby police have released surveillance shots of a bandit they say tried to rob a pharmacist of narcotics at a Drexel Hill CVS nearly two weeks ago. They believe he's the same man who robbed the Swiss Farms store on State Road of several hundred dollars at knifepoint over the weekend.
Upper Darby police superintendent Michael Chitwood says they're hoping someone can help them identify the suspect.
"We believe, A, he's a drug addict; B, we believe he's in the neighborhood; and, C, certainly by hiding his face he doesn't want to be seen by other people. So we're trying to get as much help as we can," Chitwood said today.
And Chitwood says this may be the same man responsible for an incident Monday night at a nail salon in Havertown.
He's described as a white male, 5'7" to 5'8" tall. In the attempted robbery at the pharmacy, he was wearing a black ski jacket with the hood pulled up, a red knit hat, and scarf.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Upper Darby Police Department at 610-734-7693.
