Suspect Sought In Maple Shade Pool Liner Replacement Scam
MAPLE SHADE, N.J. (CBS) – Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole money by conning people to pay a deposit for pool liner.
According to officials, on May 31st 27-year-old Frank R. Starzi 2nd gave a resident of South Maple Avenue, in Maple Shade, N.J., an estimate of $800 to replace her pool liner on June 2nd.
Police say the victim gave Starzi a $575 deposit but he never returned to install the new liner.
Allegedly, the victim met Starzi at one of her friend's home, located on West Woodcrest Avenue, as he was attempting to give the friend and estimate.
Authorities say when the suspect was confronted by the victim, Starzi went back to his car and took, running over the foot of the victim's friend.
Police have issued a warrant for theft by deception with a bail of $1,000 for Starzi.
Officials say his current whereabouts are unknown, but he has had addresses in West Deptford, Deptford and Gloucester City. They believe he may be driving a black, 2001 Olds Bravada with a New Jersey tag of L78ARV.
