Suspect Critically Injured In Police-Involved Shooting
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Drexel University police shot a homeless man after he allegedly tried to take an officer's gun Friday evening, according to authorities.
It happened at about 6:30 p.m. near 32nd and Arch streets.
Officers received reports that a homeless man was acting suspicious near Drexel University Police Headquarters, and in an effort to question the man, he reportedly became combative.
Police shot the man twice after he allegedly tried to take the officer's weapon.
He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania were he is listed in critical condition.
The university police officer suffered minor bruises and cuts to the face during the struggle. The officer was also taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for evaluation and is expected to be okay.
