By Tim Jimenez
NEWARK, De. (CBS) - A wheelchair-bound woman was killed in Delaware earlier this year after police say she was hit by three cars that all left the scene. After months of investigative work, state police say they arrested the first driver to hit the victim.
Tiffany Reeves, 29, of Elsmere, New Castle County turned herself in Friday. State police had issued an arrest warrant for Reeves in connection with the crash that killed 58-year-old Edith McFarland.
McFarland died on the evening of January 3. The wheelchair bound woman was crossing South Market Street (US-13) in Wilmington when police say Reeves was driving a gold Oldsmobile that hit McFarland, ejecting her from her wheelchair (see related story).
As McFarland was on the street, police say, when two other cars ran her over and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have yet to identify the two other cars involved. But Reeves now faces charges of leaving the scene resulting in death and driving with a suspended license. She was released on $1,000 bail.
