Suspect Crashes Stolen School Bus In Southwest Philadelphia

By Steve Beck

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are searching for the suspect who stole a school bus early Wednesday morning and then fled after crashing into a parked car.

Investigators say the incident began when the school bus was stolen from the 6800 block of Norwitch Drive.

The suspect then drove the bus before losing control and slamming into a parked car at 68th Street and Buist Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.

The suspect then hopped out of the bus and fled the scene on foot.

Both the school bus and the parked car sustained serious damage.

This incident marks the second time since Monday that a school bus has been stolen in Philadelphia. On Monday, three teens hotwired a school bus and then took it on a joyride before abandoning it on a Kensington street. Those suspects remain at large.

There were no reports of any injuries in either incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call Philadelphia police.
