PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police have arrested a suspect in connection with the sexual assault of a 78-year-old woman in Germantown last week.
Captain John Darby of the Special Investigations Unit says 24-year-old Ronald Gregory was arrested Tuesday night in the Bartram Village Apartments at 54th and Elmwood Avenue.
Darby says after the assault of the 78-year-old victim inside her home on Thursday, police talked to witnesses, and developed a possible suspect. He credits the U.S. Marshalls with helping in the investigation.
"They put information out there, including reward money on the head of Mr. Gregory," Darby says. "Very quickly they received tip information and that (information) was forwarded here. We worked together to get Mr. Gregory into custody."
Gregory is charged with rape, deviate sexual intercourse, robbery and related crimes. In addition to assaulting the victim, he took $200 in cash and a $700 money order.
