Suspect Arrested In Police-Involved Shooting In Delaware
DOVER, Del. (CBS) - A 22-year-old man was arrested for shooting at an officer in Kent County Saturday night.
At about 6:45 p.m., police say Hareem D. Mitchell, of Smyrna, walked into a DOT Discount store in the 1200 block of South State Street and threatened a customer and the clerk with a gun. Police say after stealing money from the customer and the clerk, he fled on foot.
Dover police were called out and an officer saw Mitchell ducking behind bushes near the 900 block of South Governors Avenue. Authorities say Mitchell fired several shots at the officer and he in turn returned fire.
Mitchell did eventually surrender to police and was taken into custody. Neither Mitchell nor the officer was injured in the shooting.
The incident is under investigation.
