1 Suspect Arrested In Connection With Attack At Northeast Philadelphia Supermarket
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - One person has been arrested in connection with the Saturday night beating of a man and his brother inside a Northeast Philadelphia grocery store, according to police.
The 17-year-old boy was arrested after his alleged involvement in a seemingly unprovoked attack that happened at about 10 p.m. on September 29th inside the Pathmark on the grounds of the Franklin Mills Mall.
Police say one of the four suspects captured the attack on camera, later putting the video on YouTube. The video has since been taken off line. But the damage has already been done.
The 47-year-old victim says he has to undergo reconstructive surgery after suffering an injury to his eye, nose and cheek. His brother says he too was also injured, taking a blow to the head.
Police say the suspects, who were caught on camera parking and entering the store, initially engaged in a verbal confrontation with the victim.
The altercation then escalated into a physical attack, during which the victim was punched, kicked and struck with a glass bottle.
One of the suspects then took the victim's money clip, which contained $100 in cash. The suspects then ran out of the store and drove away in a 4-door hatch back, possibly a Chevrolet Aveo.
The suspect in custody has been charged with Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy, Simple Assault and related offenses.
Police ask anyone with information on the suspects to call 911 or 215-686-TIPS (8477).
