Suspect Arrested In Beating, Robbery Of 83-Year-Old Man In Delaware
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – A suspect has been arrested after police say he beat and robbed an 83-year-old man in Delaware Thursday afternoon.
Suspect Marsaan Newman is facing several charges for his alleged role in the robbery and beating in the parking lot of the CVS pharmacy at 1005 Delaware Avenue in Wilmington.
According to investigators, the 83-year-old victim was walking into the store when the suspect approached him from behind. The suspect threatened the victim and began beating him in the head, causing the victim's head to bleed.
The suspect stole property after knocking the victim to the ground and tried to flee in the victim's car, but was unsuccessful.
The suspect then fled on foot, but was later spotted by an eyewitness and was taken into custody.
Newman was charged with Robbery in 1st degree, Robbery in the 1st degree victim over 62-years-of-age and attempted carjacking.
The victim was treated at the Wilmington Hospital and released.
