Suspect Arrested In Armed Robbery Of Blackwood Gas Station
BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) – Police arrested a suspect who is accused of robbing at gunpoint a gas station in Camden County on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 5:20 p.m. at the Lukoil Gas Station located on Blackwood Clementon Road in Blackwood, New Jersey.
According to investigators, a suspect, identified by police as 29-year-old James Johnson, entered the store and threatened an employee with a handgun. Police say he took an undisclosed amount of cash from the employee and then fled in a car on Rt. 42 north.
Johnson's vehicle was eventually spotted by police in Bellmawr and officers pulled his car over.
Johnson was taken into custody and has been charged with 1st degree Robbery, 2nd degree Possession of a weapon and other related offenses. He is being held at the Camden County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.
Investigators say when they pulled over Johnson's car, a second man, identified by police as 30-year-old Jermaine Linnen, was inside. An investigation determined that Linnen was reportedly not aware of nor involved in the robbery and no charges have been filed at this time. However, it was determined that Linnen had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and was remanded to the Burlington County Jail in default of bail.
No one was injured during the incident.
