Suspect Arrested After Armed Robbery Near SugarHouse Casino
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A suspect was taken into custody after police say he robbed a man near a Philadelphia casino early Friday morning.
The robbery happened at about 7:30 a.m. on Penn Street, which is directly adjacent to the SugarHouse Casino.
According to investigators, the armed suspect robbed the male victim and fled the scene on foot.
Moments later, the driver of Car 1, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey's car, spotted the suspect a few blocks away and took him into custody.
Investigators say they recovered a starter pistol gun from the suspect. An eyewitness said the suspect also tried to rob two other people.
Commissioner Ramsey was not in the car at the time of the arrest as the driver had just dropped him off at the roundhouse in Center City.
It was not immediately known if the victim was a patron at SugarHouse Casino.
The suspect was taken to East Detectives where he is being processed.
