Survey: More Than One Quarter Of Millennials Have Quit A Job Due To An Uncivil Workplace
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – When it comes to incivility, most can probably say they've experienced it, whether it be firsthand or upon someone else. But according to a survey, not all Americans handle uncivil situations the same.
In a survey conducted by KRC Research in partnership with Powell Tate, Americans of all different age groups agreed that when faced with incivility, they are most likely to do nothing. However, Millennials (ages 18-33) are the most likely to be proactive when faced with an uncivil situation.
According to the survey, 16 percent of Millennials say they have defended someone they saw being treated uncivilly and 5 percent have written an email or letter complaining about uncivil treatment. This compares to just 1 percent of Generation Xers and Baby Boomers.
Additionally, 33 percent of Millennials took proactive measures to take care of an uncivil situation, compared to 22 percent of Xers and 18 percent of Boomers.
Incivility has caused some Millennials to act quite strongly. In perhaps the most surprising statistic, about 27 percent of Millennials have quit a job because of an uncivil workplace.
