Supplies Running Short At Some Area Stores As Residents Prepare For Long Haul

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- As Hurricane Sandy continued to bear down on the Delaware Valley, there were plenty of people out this morning, stocking up on last-minute supplies.
The cash registers were ringing at a Wawa store on Columbus Boulevard at Tasker Avenue, where Tyrone (no last name given), who was born and raised in South Philly, was philosophical about this coming hurricane.
"C'mon... Sandy, Katrina, I mean... no offense but we'll be here."
He said he had ventured out for ice cream and sodas, adding, "I really don't need it but I'm out here!"
The Wawa had batteries and bread, but was out of most varieties of milk.
Across Columbus Boulevard, at Superfresh, manager Rick Francheschini said his stocks were holding out for the most part.
"We have water, we have bread. We're in pretty good shape," he told KYW Newsradio this morning.
What about batteries?
"That's the only thing we're out of -- the D's and the C size."
One customer, Tee, who was doing some last-minute shopping, said she was grateful.
"Anything they have, anything that is left, I'm grabbing it!" she said.
