Sugarloaf Crafts Festival Offers Unique Gifts For Holiday Presents
By Brad Segall
OAKS, Pa. (CBS) – If you're tired of buying your holiday presents at the malls or chain stores you can find some unique gifts this weekend at the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival in Montgomery County.
More than 250 artists from around the country will display their one-of-a-kind handmade creations for the thousands who are expected to attend the festival at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks. You'll find ceramics, pottery, jewelry and glass, leather and a lot more. Show president Deann Verdier says you'll meet the hands that made the goods.
"The people that you talk to are all extremely knowledgeable about what it is so when you present a gift you have a whole long story about who made it...where it came from...what materials were used," says Verdier.
The show runs 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday. Verdier says their merchants come from all over the country and they had about a dozen cancellations from people who couldn't make it because of Hurricane Sandy.
