Suburban Philadelphia Home Contractor Charged With Defrauding Customers

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A Chester County home improvement contractor is headed to trial in Montgomery County, Pa. on charges he took money from clients during 2009 but, in each case, never did the work or didn't finish the job.
So far there are two cases against Kenneth Staiger, and a third is being investigated.
Prosecutors say he was president of Admiral Kitchens when he contracted with a Collegeville, Pa. family for bathroom and kitchen renovations. He was paid more than $89,000, they say, but never did the work.
Montgomery County DA Risa Ferman says the second case involves an Upper Gwynedd family who paid the 47-year-old Wayne man more than $20,000.
"And that case was particularly troubling because it was a family that needed a bathroom renovated for a special-needs child," she tells KYW Newsradio. "So for them, they were really in a critical situation where they needed work done. They expressed to the contractor how important it was."
Ferman says they are now looking for anyone else who believes they may have been defrauded by Staiger.
"Anyone who feels that they may have been the victim of a fraud or deceptive business practices, now is the time for them to contact your local police or the district attorney's office to make a report about this man," she said.
Prosecutors say Staiger is still working, doing business under the name Renovay Kitchens and Bathrooms.
