Stun Gun Control Laws

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - You've heard the debate over gun control. What about stun gun control?

An Atlanta mall cop has become an internet sensation after a video of him tasering a violent, abusive woman who really deserved it went viral.

You've certainly heard the debate over gun control laws. But did you know that there are also stun gun control laws in case you're thinking of becoming the next Paul Blart, mall cop, by buying yourself one.

Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island all restrict their use, as do cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, Baltimore, and DC. Even the carrying and use of pepper spray is regulated in some cities and can't be carried by people under the age of 18.

So, before taking matters into your own hands, be sure to check the laws in both your state and your city to make sure that you're not the one on the wrong side of the law. Instead, you'll have to leave the crime fighting to the professionals - the mall cops.
