Study: Business School Grads Are Most Likely To Be Under-Employed

PHIADELPHIA (CBS) - A website says college graduates with a bachelor's in business are most likely to be under-employed. Two Philadelphia schools say they buck that trend.
The St. Joseph's University Career Development Center surveys grads annually on two key points of the payscale.com report, says the Center's associate director Melissa McClory..
"Is your position related to your career goals? For our business graduates, 87-percent indicated that it is," associate director Melissa McClory said. "The second question that we asked is, does your position require a four-year degree? 86-percent of Haub School's business respondents indicate that it does."
Over at La Salle, Director of Career Services Lou Lamorte says the last two years have been "pretty decent" in hooking grads with gigs, and although his office runs job fairs and offers other help, the secret to success is personal effort.
"Employers want not only the college degree but value-added, and internships and extracurricular activities," Lamorte said. "All that plays an important role."
