Study: Belly Fat May Be More Dangerous For The Heart Than Obesity
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Where you carry belly fat could put you at a greater risk of heart disease and death, researchers say.
An article in the Annals of Internal Medicine says normal-weight adults who had what's called "central obesity," a clinical term for belly fat, had twice the mortality risk of those whose body mass index was considered overweight or obese.
Researchers say those with normal-weight central obesity had the worst long-term survival.
