Study: Aspirin Can Help Treat And Prevent Cancer
By Dr. Brian McDonough and Stephanie Stahl
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Aspirin has been called the wonder drug, and according to a report in the journal "The Lancet," there are several reasons for it.
We know, of course, that aspirin can be used to fight cardiovascular problems, but in this particular issue of The Lancet, they looked at three studies and they found that aspirin actually helps prevent and treat cancer.
Researchers say that aspirin not only reduces the incidences of cancer, but for people suffering from the disease, it actually reduces the risk of cancer spreading. These studies are very interesting, and they show that there is a protective effect.
However, remember that aspirin is not without side effects: there is an increased risk of bleeding and other health issues associated with it.
