Students At Montgomery County School Help With Sandy Relief Efforts
By Michelle Durham
MAPLE GLEN, Pa. (CBS) -- Students at Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School in Maple Glen, Montgomery County traded in their uniforms on Thursday in favor of jeans and sweatshirts, and it was all for a good cause.
"We have to bring in a dollar for Hurricane Sandy," says Nicole Graumann from Miss Timlin's 5th grade class, "for the people in need that their houses and stuff got damaged."
Michelle: "Did you see the pictures of that?"
"Yes," Graumann says. "It was pretty horrible."
So for the price of a one-dollar, each student was able to dress down on Thursday. How did it make Graumann feel to help out...
"Um, it makes me feel pretty good," she says.
Michelle: "How does it feel not to wear the uniform for the day?"
"It feels good," says Graumann. "Because sometimes the uniform might feel a little uncomfortable to me."
7th and 8th grade Religion Teacher Sister Pauline says many students brought in more than the required dollar, and downstairs at the Main Office, the secretaries were busy counting all of the money.
There was also a bake sale in the cafeteria to raise additional funds.
