Strong Storms Bring Down Trees, Power Lines In Philadelphia Area

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A strong line of storms brought drenching rain and strong winds as well as flood warnings and wind advisories.
The storm system rolled into the region Tuesday afternoon knocking down trees and causing power outages. Downed trees brought down power lines in the Wynnefield section of the city near Fairmount Park. PECO says they have about 3,000 scattered power outages in it's service area as of Wednesday morning. AC Electric is still reporting about 62 scattered outages across it's service area in South Jersey while PSE&G reports 650 remaining outages as of Wednesday morning. Burlington and Camden counties were the hardest hit locally. Delmarva is reporting 1,712 outages. PP&L reports 7,269.
SEPTA also had several closures and delays. Normal service has resumed on the Media/Elwyn Line, following the removal of a downed tree near the Lansdowne Station Tuesday. Passengers may experience some residual delays. Service has been restored on the Chestnut Hill West Regional Rail Line, following a weather-related disruption. Service that had been suspended on the Paoli Thorndale line is resuming with a train to Bryn Mawr, but riders should expect delays.
The switching problems on SEPTA's Route 10 trolley line has been repaired and service is now running on the entire route. SEPTA's Route 102 trolley line in Delaware County is now busing between Sharon Hill and MacDade Boulevard stations due to flooding.
The downed tree has been taken off lines on the Route 13 trolley in West Philadelphia and service is resuming on the entire route.

PATCO says trains are running on or close to schedule.
Air travel at Philadelphia International Airport was also impacted. The FAA says travelers can continue to expect delays for arrivals and departures throughout the evening.
The Spring-Ford Area School District also announced it is closed for tomorrow due to a power outage.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch which remains in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday for southern New Jersey and all of Delaware. A tornado watch does not mean a tornado has been spotted, but that conditions are favorable for one to form.
The storm system is expected to bring between one to two inches of rain with winds potentially reaching 50 to 60 mph.
