Street Road Interchange On Pa. Turnpike Gets New Price Structure
HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - Starting Sunday, folks who use the Pennsylvania Turnpike's new Street Road EZ-Pass interchange will be getting a break on tolls.
Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission spokesman Carl DeFebo says when it opened five months ago, the eastbound-only Street Road EZ-Pass interchange was the first new interchange opened between existing interchanges and there was no methodology to calculate a new toll.
"Since Street Road opened, the cost to get off at Street Road has been the same as the cost to get off at Delaware Valley. For those who get on at Street Road, the toll to exit at the two plazas to the east has been the same as if you got on at Bensalem."
Now the Street Road interchange will have its own specific toll structure. Those non-commercial vehicles getting on at Street Road and heading east will pay 12-cents less when they exit. 85-percent of motorists getting off at Street Road get on at Valley Forge or points east.
They'll see a reduction ranging from 55 to 88 cents per trip.
