Steve Mason To Start For Flyers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Steve Mason will start in goal for the Flyers in tonight's opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team announced via their Instgram account on Wednesday.
Head coach Peter Laviolette said he would not announce the starting goaltender for the opener until today. Many believed that veteran Ray Emery would be the opening night starter.
The Flyers acquired Mason in a trade during the final stretch of the 2012-13 season, and signed him to an extension before the year ended. They acquired Emery during the offseason.
