Steroid Vials Found at Eagles' Training Camp May Lead to NFL Probe

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The latest developments in last August's overdose death of Garrett Reid, son of Philadelphia Eagles' head coach Andy Reid, involve the discovery of anabolic steroids in the younger Reid's dormitory room at Eagles' training camp (see related story).
A spokesman for the NFL isn't saying anything beyond that they are aware of the developments and will follow up if necessary.
Nineteen vials of steroids were found in Garrett Reid's dorm room at Lehigh University, along with a nylon bag containing 47 syringes and 64 needles (see related story).
But authorities say there was no evidence that he was distributing the performance-enhancing drugs to members of the team.
Eagles' players reportedly have been tested about 700 times since 2011 with no positive results, although that doesn't necessarily mean they are categorically clean. Masking agents can sometimes be used to alter test results, or players can used variants of steroids that don't test positive.
Team owner Jeffrey Lurie says he will cooperate fully if the NFL broadens its interest in the case.
Garrett Reid was working was working as a volunteer assistant with the strength and conditioning staff when he died of a heroin overdose (see related story).
